Volvo Oil Change Kit 5W30 - Castrol Edge 32140029KT3

This oil conforms to the demanding ACEA A5/B5 specification as originally designated by Volvo for later 4cyl Drive-E 2.0T direct injection engines in the owners manual. Volvo has officially superseded their recommendation for a 5W30 to the [VCC RBS0-2AE/SAE 0W20]. We are keeping 5W30 kits available due to customer demand, but be aware Volvo official and solitary approval for these engines is the 0W20 previously linked.

Please see [KIT-32140029KT6] for the Castrol oil change kit with current Volvo approval.

The spec change overrides early owners manual specifications regarding an A5/B5 5W30.

Castrol EDGE Extended Performance 5W-30 is a full synthetic engine oil formulated for modern gasoline and diesel engines that require a fuel-efficient, low-viscosity lubricant with strong wear protection and long-term stability. Built around ACEA A5/B5, ACEA C2, and API SQ performance requirements, it combines a low-SAPS additive package with a high viscosity index of 163 to provide excellent cold-start performance, oxidation resistance, and protection against viscosity breakdown under high temperatures and sustained load. With a kinematic viscosity of 9.9 cSt at 100°C and sulfated ash content of just 0.77%, it is designed to help maintain engine cleanliness while supporting modern emissions systems and protecting against low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI) in direct-injected turbocharged engines.

Castrol EDGE Extended Performance is engineered to deliver outstanding thermal stability, deposit control, and wear protection over extended service intervals. Its advanced synthetic base oils help maintain a durable lubricating film under demanding operating conditions while reducing sludge and varnish formation. Suitable for a wide range of modern gasoline and diesel applications, it is designed for drivers seeking a balance of fuel economy, engine protection, and long-term reliability.
