About Odometer Gears

Owned by Jeff Caplan, Odometer Gears started out when the Owner of the company needed to replace the Odometer gear on his 1980 BMW 528I to complete the restoration of the vehicle. However, after searching from repair shop to repair shop, everyone want to sell him the entire cluster repair service or in some cases the entire instrument cluster itself which could cost up to $1600 installed. Once he made his first gear, word got out and he quickly started getting orders from other enthusiasts. Today, Odometer Gears still has the passion and drive to make inexpensive solutions to repair expensive components by developing smaller parts to repair them.

Odometer & Trip Odometer Works Again!
This little gear brought my 1987 Volvo 245's odometer and trip odometer back to life! The gear Volvo used originally turns to a soft, almost rubbery, thing which is the cause of the odometer failing. This is a straight forward, easy repair, and I highly recommend watching IPD's video on replacing the gear (please leave this reference in here, FCP Euro, it's not competition as your prices are much better than IPD'S) as it made the task easy and painless! (You don't have to be super-duper mechanic to do it, either.) Doyour Volvo a favor and replace this gear! :)

Amazing.
A pretty easy install. Make sure you get ALL of the old crusty gear bits out of the housing, and blow out with compressed air even if you don't see any bits in there. Looking forward to crossing 400k!

Saturn S-Series odometer gear replacement
I bought this gear and the 15-tooth pod on a hunch that they would be the same as the gears for 1991-1997 Saturn S-Series (this gear set for Saturns is around $65 shipped on the OdometerGears website). These are in fact the exact same gear set for $33 shipped and work beautifully. Thanks to FCP Euro for the cheap prices on these gears, fast shipping and customer service was excellent. I will be back here for any mechanical odometer Saturn gears and I would recommend any S-Series owner to do the same.

Works perfectly and easy to do
I followed the Odometer Gear instructions and watched the IPD video. The gear I removed did not have broken teeth but I replaced the gear anyway. I blew out the unit with compressed air per Odometer Gear’s instructions. They make a big point about doing this! All in all it was fun and an easy fix.

A crazy simple repair. Odometer works like new. Be sure to look for and remove any broken teeth from the old gear in there before you reassemble/reinstall the odometer.

Great!
Installed this in my '89 240 wagon along with FCP's 15 tooth gear pod and my odometer is back up and running! Super easy to install, good quality, fast shipping. I definitely recommend getting the 15 tooth gear pod along with this. This small 25 tooth gear mounts to the 15 tooth pod, and they're both cheap. Might as well replace both while you've got the gauge cluster apart!

You will have to look at the gear in the car. If the gear in the car is incorrect, then you will have to do your own research to determine the proper gear for your 240

Gears for either MPH or KPH instrumentation are determined by number of teeth.
