Product Information
This kit is assembled to help you replace a rear wheel bearing on your P3 AWD Volvo XC60, and includes the main wheel bearing and hub assembly, the dust cover, as well as required hardware.
When a wheel bearing fails, usually you can tell because it will make a swishing or grinding noise when the wheel is unloaded. IE, if you are turning left and the rear of the car starts to make a noise, it would be the left side wheel bearing. You can then lift the wheel off the ground and rotate the wheel to inspect for rotational noise or play in the bearing.
Torque:
Axle Bolt
- Stage 1: 35 Nm
- Stage 2: 90 °
Mount rear brake caliper, 110 Nm
Wheel bearing rear to wheel knuckle, 110 Nm
A wheel hub serves as the central part of the wheel that connects to the axle and allows the wheel to rotate freely. The hub will sometimes contain or be pressed into the wheel bearings, which facilitate smooth wheel rotation and support the weight of the vehicle.
Axle Bearing and Hub Assembly Failure Symptoms- Vibration or Wobbling: If the hub or bearings are worn out, you may feel vibrations or wobbling in the steering wheel or throughout the vehicle while driving, especially at higher speeds
- Abnormal Tire Wear: A damaged wheel hub can lead to misalignment, resulting in uneven tire wear. Inspecting the tires may reveal bald spots or excessive wear on one side
- Loose Wheel: If the wheel hub is severely damaged, it may cause the wheel to feel loose or wobbly when you shake it while the vehicle is parked. This is especially concerning if it happens after changing a tire

Not really, honestly would not be a mileage or age, inspection for play in the bearing is the only real indicator for replacement.
