Product Information

Do a complete service of the timing belt system on your Volvo with this kit. It includes all necessary parts to replace the timing belt, tensioner, and idler. A cam holding tool is not required once the timing is set to TDC. This kit features a Kevlar® reinforced racing timing belt in racing blue.

Belt
Great color, still rolling after 50k miles. Same as oem. My only comment is be aware that VOLVO has 4 procedures to time the VVT units depending upon the engine/ vehicle combination. having the cam locking tool is an absolute necessity. Do not change the belt if you do not have the tool. Locking the gears with a gear locker is a mistake waiting to happen. The cam locking tool and a set of new cam plugs if required is a necessity. Also the VIDA procedure for the particular dual VVT engines is a must AND make sure you have the correct procedure for the correct engine! Love this belt.

Volvo Timing Belt Kit - Gates 30758261
All the bits and pieces needed, everything fits, no surprises, lovely blue colour ... but can't see it :) Spend some time thoroughly marking the pulleys, aluminium covers and old belt with sharpies & corrector fluid, no manufacturer marking visible and with the VVT if you lose it you're in trouble.

Likely Overkill
This is probably overkill, for my 2001 NA S60, but everything is checking out perfectly nearly a year after installation, as of this review. Either way, it was an excellent purchase!

Eccentric Euro Trash
Had to do this service 9K too early due to water pump leak. Replace this kit with 232579K miles on the car on my 99 V70Na. All parts fit perfectly. Live in area where hills are steep so wanted added protection. Mechanic said current belt was about to snap, so I was lucky.

I just installed this kit along with a new Aisin water pump on my 2003 S60. I used the same on my 1998 S70 a couple of years ago. The Gates belt may not actually be superior to the Contitech but it made me feel better to buy it plus it's "Made in USA". Only thing is it didn't come with a new under-hood sticker like the Conti includes, for posting the timing belt replacement mileage. The tensioner and idler by INA appear to be the OEM just without "Volvo" stamped on the tensioner in addition to the INA markings (although the one I removed was Made in Germany, while this one is Made in Slovakia like the INA components on my 960/90s' timing components). As usual the tensioner was annoying to set and moved when final-tightened despite my repeated best efforts. I really appreciated Jason's video -- a "must watch".

Hi, the early B5424T4 engines (up to engine serial 3188688) has its own separate part number from Volvo for the timing kit, pn31339840. Your engine serial is 3170558. We looked into it on the shelf and the parts measure identical on the outside. However, the tensioner may have an internal change to the spring and Volvo has not superseded the number. While this kit may fit, it is technically not correct for your engine, and unfortunately, we can't confirm why.
