Hatch Seal

A hatch seal is a rubber weatherstrip that runs around the perimeter of a vehicle’s rear hatch or liftgate. Its primary function is to create an airtight and watertight seal when the hatch is closed, preventing water, dust, wind, and noise from entering the cabin while also reducing vibrations.

Hatch Seal Failure Symptoms
  • Water leaks into the cargo area during rain or car washes due to cracks or gaps in the seal.
  • Wind noise or whistling at higher speeds from air passing through worn or loose sections.
  • Dust or exhaust intrusion into the cabin, especially when driving on unpaved roads or with negative cabin pressure.
