Product Information

The leak detection pump is an important component of the EVAP system, and is designed to pressurize the evaporative emissions hoses and the fuel tank. If everything is operating correctly, the system will hold pressure, demonstrating no leaks. If there is a leak, a pressure sensor will detect it and trigger a check engine light for an Evap system leak. If the pump does not work at all, it will generate codes specific for a failed Evap pump, such as P043E, P043F, P2401, P2402, P2419.

Evaporative Emissions System Leak Detection Pump

An evaporative emissions system leak detection pump (LDP) is a component of the EVAP system that pressurizes the fuel system to check for leaks. By pumping air into the system, it helps the engine control module (ECM) detect even small vapor leaks that could allow fuel vapors to escape into the atmosphere. This process ensures emissions compliance, reduces environmental impact, and maintains fuel system integrity.
