Fuel Pump Module Assembly

A fuel pump module assembly is a complete unit, typically located inside the fuel tank, that delivers pressurized fuel to the engine. Unlike a standalone fuel pump, the module will sometimes include:

  • Electric fuel pump – draws and pressurizes fuel.
  • Fuel filter/strainer – removes debris and contaminants.
  • Fuel pressure regulator – maintains consistent fuel pressure.
  • Fuel level sending unit – communicates fuel level to the gauge.

Key functions:

  • Supplies pressurized fuel to the injectors for combustion.
  • Maintains proper fuel pressure under different driving conditions.
  • Provides accurate fuel level readings to the dashboard gauge.
Fuel Pump Module Assembly Failure Symptoms
  • Engine stalling or no-start condition – pump fails to deliver fuel.
  • Loss of power or hesitation – weak fuel pressure causes poor acceleration.
  • Hard starting – requires long cranking before the engine runs.

Excellent Replacement Part
Replaced the fuel pump on a P2 AWD Wagon after replacing the FPS and fuel filter (which didn't solve an intermittent fuel delivery issue). Job would've cost a fortune at the shop or dealership. It's not a terrible job, remember to buy two new O-rings and the tool. Car is running phenomenally - no issues after 5K miles.

Question Posted by Edwin
My 2007 S60 VIN is YV1RS592872613348 and believe that the engine code is B5254T2. Can you confirm that Bosch 30761747 is the correct fuel pump for my car?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
Yes, Bosch 30761747 / 69890 is the correct fuel-pump module for VIN YV1RS592872613348, provided the vehicle retains its original plastic fuel tank. Volvo specifies this pump for B5254T2 S60 models from chassis 600000 onward, and your vehicle is chassis 613348.
Question Posted by Cameron
Is this the correct pump for YV1RS592892741186?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
If this vehicle has the plastic fuel tank, yes. Unfortunately a quick search with vin does not reveal this, and the correct pump number by vin appears to be 258336. I would recommend sending your vin and this part number to service@fcpeuro.com so we can further investigate.

30761747 is the correct fuel pump for your vehicle.
Question Posted by Vladyslav
Before you listed this fuel pump here, i have bought same one from a different seller for my S60. I don't know if there is any trick with installation, but i witnessed the stuttering of the vehicle, followed by loss of fuel pressure, cyclic whining noise from the pump and eventual stalling. Thinking, that it was a defective pump, i ordered the replacement, reinstalled and faced the same issue. When the gas tank is full, it seems like the fuel pump gets enough gas over the top of its container and the car runs flawlessly, but as soon as the level drops, the problems begin again. It feels like the second pump (filling the container through the pipe) doesn't work, or runs much slower than the main pump. Vehicle runs great, accelerates fast, shows over 3 gal/hr flow until, as i think, it consumes the gas in the can and starts to suffer from lack of fuel. As I understand, the pump on my 2008 S60 2.5t is controlled by 2 white wires coming from the fuel pump control module. White is 12v, another one (white with black) is typically around 6v, and at the moment of loss of pressure and stalling 6v goes down to 0v. Is that normal or the problem could be in the fuel module(it becomes hot during stalling)? The gauge connected to the engine schrader and fuel filter schrader valves, shows the same readings as the ELM OBDII, around 42-43psi. The flow though the gauge when the button is pressed, is very slow at idling and while revving the engine while idling. It is dripping or making a barely steady flow. Is that normal? Please advise where should i look for the solution?
Answer (Posted by FCP Euro Products Team)
This is a complex issue that is going to require some dedicated in-person diagnostics, and a VIDA enabled diagnostic software suite would be highly recommended. However, here are two points. The first is, you are on the right track by checking voltage to the secondary fuel pump. Second, we do get orders for those fuel pump control modules, so it might not be out of the realm that this is your problem too. Good luck with your issue.
