Volvo Fuel Pump Control Module - Vemo 30742823

This aftermarket Vemo fuel pump control module, also called a PEM, is used in return-less fuel systems. The ECU uses input from a fuel pressure sensor and feeds a PWM signal to the fuel pump to maintain correct pressure. The control module is a common failure point due to its tight electrical tolerances as well as susceptibility to road grime and salt corrosion. Its position depends on model, but usually they are mounted near the fuel tank.

Because of the critical nature of the fuel pump control module, when it is failing it will cause major issues with reliability and performance such as stalling, hesitation, or no starts. It is also associated with some DTC's, including P0087 (Fuel Rail/System Pressure Too Low) or P0230 (Fuel Pump Primary Circuit Malfunction).

If you are experiencing any of these problems, locate the PEM and inspect the unit and wiring for corrosion or damage, and replace if necessary to restore the engine performance and reliability to your P2 chassis Volvo.
