Volvo Fuel Door Hinge - Genuine Volvo 1380664

While this part comes in an OEM bag, it doesn't match how the previous OEM hinges installed- where I had to break off the fastening pins and push them in. This door comes with pins already set into the holes, and you should then push them in. Be aware that if you simply attempt to tap the pins in they will either: 1. shatter in two or more shards, or 2. simply push all the way through. This part is made is Estonia and l am pretty certain not using original tooling. For my install I lost two pins entirely and one pin shattered. The fourth pin, I decided to grab the pin which was already in the hole and twist it to loosen it, while applying some pressure to the end to flatten it and make it less likely to push all the way through. I went to the local ACE store and bought a 1/8" x 4' wooden dowel which I used to make new pins by cutting about 20 mm off the end, and crushing the wood a little on the end which ends up flush mounted. The dowel will cost about $4.50- but it is easier than a return. Even though this is an OEM part- it is NOT the same quality nor the made from the same tooling or plastic type as the original Volvo parts. I am disappointed in the company operating as Volvo today, but I am grateful that at least some part is on offer at all.

My pops knocked into the fuel door years ago at the station, and for about 4 years, the car had no fuel door. I got tired of the inconsistent lines in the body of the brick, and decided to re-install the door back onto the port in efforts to restore those beautiful lines back to the car. After a year and a half of having an operational door, I can't tell you how happy such a small piece of plastic makes me and others who love the car. This is what cars are about! This one should really come with instructions :-) The pins are designed to be broken off, they would not work properly if you jut try to push them in. Break the pins off, file off sharp edges (or simply insert them upside down so the smooth edge enters the hole). It helps if the sharp edges are removed from the hole as well. Place the hinge where it needs to be installed and press the plastic pins in. Voila, this should last another 10 years before the elements get the better of the plastic. OEM works fine, URO parts is OK but comes with plastic grommets rather than rubber. I've also used ScanTech packaged as Dorman, liked that better than URO.

Bought this one because the original broke one day when I opened the fuel door. Was a bit worried this would break when I installed it, but nope, it installed with no problems at all!

The plastic tabs broke easily. I used screws instead to spread the dome plastic to fit the hinge onto the car. I used pan screws for the outer holes and smaller machine screws on the two interior one. Worked well, but time will tell.

Fits just like the original.

Bought this part because a gas station attendant broke the hinge while opening my door. The boss of the shop tried to tell me I needed a new door and that his attendant didn't it. He also told me it would have been around 300 dollars to order the door and repaint it. I then looked into it and noticed my hinge was the only broken part, so I ordered this one, and it went right on. Still working today and in very good shape. Highly suggest this one if you're looking for a hinge.

Fairly easy install, but the plastic pegs snap off VERY easily. Use a punch with a moderate diameter (I think I used 5/16") and tap them gently to start them. Either buy two in case one breaks, which happened to me, or replace those silly plastic pegs with some metal rod. It is approximately the size of a coat hanger. Lastly, buy OE. Uro is available elsewhere but their brand is junk.
