Product Information

This kit is designed to replace both rear electric lift supports on the Volvo P3 Volvo XC60. At some point through the production run, the drive units were updated with a different gearing. Because of this, we highly recommend replacing drive units in pairs to ensure smooth and even operation by both sides at once.

This kit also includes Volvo's famous 'Bone Tool', a trim removal tool designed to help remove the rear hatch panel (to access the electrical plugs) without leaving a mark.

Liftgate Lift Support

Liftgate supports, or gas struts, are pressurized cylinders designed to hold up a liftgate or rear hatch. Over time, they can fail due to a pressure drop, often caused by exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, or contaminants. Cold weather, in particular, can reduce the gas pressure inside the struts, making them less effective at supporting the gate during cooler conditions.

Liftgate Lift Support Failure Symptoms

The hatch may feel heavier or fail to stay open as high as before due to a gas leak in the lift support
Grease or oil leaking from the existing shocks
Seeping noise or creaks coming from the shocks when lifting the hatch

Will these rise to the user set height from the remote button? The set i have now - also bought from FCPEuro - only go a bit more than half forcing me to open the liftgate using my hand pretty much negating the ‘automatic’ liftgate.

Yes, these power lift supports should raise the tailgate to the programmed/user-set height when operated by the remote or liftgate switch. If your current set only opens halfway, that is not normal operation; please contact us with your order information and full VIN so we can inspect the application and warranty options or assist with diagnosing the issue at hand.
