Semi-Metallic Brake Pads

The friction compound used in this brake pad set is Semi-Metallic. The main benefit of using a semi-metallic pad is that it provides the best initial braking force, which is why Volvo uses semi-metallic compound brake pads from the factory. Halfway through 1999, Volvo changed the rear brakes on AWD P80's to this updated style which features a modern push-in clip retainer on the back of the pad. Earlier '99 models have a built-in spring clip on the top of the pad. A visual inspection is a good idea for 1999 AWD models to confirm the style of rear brakes installed on your Volvo
