Axle boots are designed to seal in the lubricating axle grease around the CV joint of your axle while keeping water, dirt, and other contaminants out. If your vehicle's axle boots are torn you have a limited amount of time to replace the boot before permanent damage to the CV joint is done. Once the CV joint loses lubrication and is damaged by outside contaminants the axle will likely need to be replaced as an entire assembly.

CV Joint Boot Kit

A CV joint boot serves to protect the axle joint and axle by keeping out dirt, water, and debris while preserving the grease that lubricates the joint. As a vital component of the drivetrain system, it enables the wheels to move in coordination with the vehicle’s suspension. Regular inspection of CV boots is essential, and they should be replaced before any signs of failure appear. Replacing a boot typically involves removing the old one, reapplying grease, and fitting a new boot, which will require tools for expanding the boot over the joint as well as clamping a special style clamp on both ends to prevent exposure. At the point of service, it is also recommended to expect the condition of the joint, if the joint is damaged, a full joint replacement may be necessary.

Would you please share the diameters of the small and large openings for this boot as well as its length at rest (ie not stretched or compressed). The measure of Oetiker sizes in the kit too would help.
