Power Brake Booster

Your vehicles brake booster is designed to provide power assistance to the braking system. On most cars, the brake booster uses engine vacuum to do this. However, many modern cars use an auxiliary vacuum pump to provide vacuum to the brake booster.

The brake booster is in line between the brake pedal and brake master cylinder. It essentially amplified the force applied to the pedal by your foot and outputs more braking force in the hydraulic braking system. This makes braking your vehicle a much less physical task.

When a brake booster is failing you may notice that braking effort increases. the engine runs poorly or stalls with force on the brake pedal, or the relative resting position of the brake pedal has changed. In these cases it is recommended to inspect the hoses leading to the brake booster as well as the brake booster itself. If the brake booster is in fact faulty it is highly recommended to replace it as soon as possible.

Easy Replacement. Great part. Be advised Booster comes with a position sensor, so you don't need to order another one.

Volvo Power Brake Booster - ATE 8649491
Had to buy a new booster because I broke the brake pedal position switch bracket off the old one was a little upset when I found out the new one comes shipped with it installed but so far no issues it also comes with new o-rings for the master cylinder and nuts as well and a gasket for the firewall

Part fit perfectly in 2001 XC70. Works like a charm, no more squishy brakes.

Volvo S80 Brake Booster
As of 3 weeks, the brake booster has worked as advertised. I had very little difficulty in replacing the unit. The booster has fixed my brake issue as of this time.

1999 Volvo S80 EMT
Needed a booster with one day shipping . FCP sent the part and it arrived the next day . Exactly the part I needed . PITA to R & R ! No fault of FCP . Mr. Volvo of Sweden should be sentenced to 2 days on his back to R & R the self locking nuts on the booster under the dash !

The easiest way is to look at the traction buttons below your climate unit. If there is a button that says DSTC, you have dynamic.
