Disc Brake Anti-Rattle Clip

A Disc Brake Anti-Rattle Clip is a small metal clip used in disc brake assemblies to hold the brake pads securely in place and reduce movement, vibration, and noise during braking. It keeps the brake pads stable within the brake caliper, minimizing any "rattling" sound or movement as the brakes engage and disengage. This helps ensure a quiet, stable, and effective braking experience.

Disc Brake Anti-Rattle Clip Failure Symptoms
  • Rattling or Clunking Noise: One of the main indicators of a failed anti-rattle clip is a rattling, clunking, or knocking sound when driving, especially over bumps or rough surfaces, as the brake pads may shift within the caliper
  • Increased Brake Noise: If the clip is damaged or missing, you might hear squeaking or scraping sounds when braking due to pad movement
  • Uneven Brake Pad Wear: Without a secure hold from the anti-rattle clip, the brake pads may shift, leading to uneven or accelerated wear on the pads

Under what circumstances this item needs to be replaced?

These are usually replaced when they become too rusty or corroded to hold in the caliper well. Another reason to replace them would be if they are bent or warped and unable to apply proper pressure to the caliper surfaces.
