Alternator

If your car is running out of power (literally) it's likely due to a worn or failing alternator. Your vehicles car battery is responsible for storing enough energy to start the car while the alternator powers all the vehicles systems with the engine running while maintaining a battery charge. If your car dies while driving and the battery has little to no charge it's most likely due to a failed or failing alternator. Before condemning an alternator you can perform a simple test with a DVOM (digital volt meter). Also make sure the belt which drives the alternator is properly tensioned as well.

Upgrade for 1993 Volvo 240 Bosch 80 amp Alternator
Installed this alternator in my 1993 Volvo 240 wagon after two the Bosch 80 amp alternators failed. This unit is a Denso 100 amp (maybe 120 amp) alternator remanufactured by Bosch. After installation at Lydell Motors the unit load tested at: 122 amps @12.2 - 132 amps @9.3. The consensus in the Volvo 240 community is that the Denso 100 amp alternator handles the load better than the Bosch 80 amp. Particularly in the last years of the 240, 1992 and 1993. I hope this helps.

Installing AL0750X Alt in a 940 T
The alternator is expertly rebuild by Bosch which was my reason for buying this unit. However, you have to watch out when you swap over your pulley, in my case the older style V Belt pulley on a 93 940T. The shaft length on the rebuilt unit was longer than the old unit which requires you to install a couple of washers between the bolt and the pulley, I got them at Lowes, hardened 5/8 inch washers. You need to grind out the inside of the washers with a rotary grinding bit to make them side down the shaft. If you don't install the washers the bolt will bottom out on the threads, destroy them and the pulley will not stay in place. Unit has been in place now for 4 months and is working great.

Part number 8251774 is coming up as an axle, the applications for the 80 amp and 100 amp are showing to use the same dimensions pulley and rib count. So you should not have an issue with fitment.
