This new Genuine Volvo Alarm Siren is designed to meet the exact original equipment specifications for Volvo vehicles

This component is the actual siren for your Vovlo's alarm. The unit is located on the passenger side behind the fender liner and is secured to the body with a shear head bolt. This unit is a common failure point on the P2 Volvo models.

To Nick; I agree, the alarm is a bit much, but the immobilizer is OVERKILL. They really don't understand what the customer wants. Then making the lights on all the time, is just stupid.

"Alarm Service Required" ... UGH!
I don't think anyone is coming after my XC90, but Volvo idiotically wired the alarm to the sunroof, so no alarm = no sunroof, and I love my damn sunroof. The install is a huge PITA, you'll have to remove the front fender lining and you'll need to drill out the rivets and replace with 979878. Alarm is mounted via one security bolt that you'll need to dremel out (mine was on tight and pliers were just not cutting it) and replace (986937) and the unit just slides out off the mounts. Job takes 1 to 1 1/2 hours if all goes well, 2 hours if you're enjoying a cold beverage or six and wrestling with the rivets and fender lining. Once you're done, no more messages, and sunroof works! Yippee!
