Accelerator Pedal Sensor

An accelerator pedal sensor (also called an APP sensor) is an electronic device that monitors the position of the accelerator pedal and sends this data to the engine control module (ECM). Instead of using a mechanical throttle cable, modern vehicles rely on this sensor to regulate throttle response, fuel injection, and engine power. A properly functioning sensor ensures smooth acceleration, precise throttle control, and optimal fuel efficiency.

Accelerator Pedal Sensor Failure Symptoms
  • Delayed or unresponsive acceleration, due to incorrect pedal position signals.
  • Check Engine Light illumination, often with throttle-related diagnostic trouble codes.
  • Engine hesitation, stalling, or reduced power (limp mode), caused by faulty sensor readings.
