Volvo A/C Compressor Shim Kit - Genuine Volvo 31332161

This kit and a bunch of effort has fixed the A/C in my P2 platform V70. The P1 instructions for shimming the compressor is extremely good but it is for the Volvo P1 platform with very easy access to the compressor clutch. https://blog.fcpeuro.com/how-to-fix-intermittent-ac-in-a-volvo-p1 I was able to special order the same red handle clutch holding tool at a local chain auto parts store for about $25. On the P2 platform the repair procedure is the same but you have to remove a bunch of items before getting access to the compressor clutch face: 1. Follow Volvo procedure for battery disconnect. 2. Drain Coolant. 3. Remove serpentine belt. 4. Remove the upper coolant hose (and any air tubes if turbo equipped). 5. Remove power steering pump and set aside without disconnecting hoses. 6. Remove alternator (two lower mounting bolts are shared with the A/C compressor). 7. Remove bottom two A/C compressor mounting bolts and slide the A/C compressor away from the body so there is enough space for the FCP procedure for the P1 Volvos to be followed. The math for the new shim thickness is very important! Measure the gap using feeler gauges before removing the clutch plate. My car had 0.89mm gap with the feeler gauge not binding at any point around the clutch to pressure plate interface. The goal is 0.3mm gap so I needed to remove (0.89mm - 0.3mm =) 0.59mm of spacer thickness. After removing the clutch I found that the two spacers were 1.0mm thick. The new spacer thickness should be 1.0mm - 0.59 = 0.41mm thick. I found two spacers from this kit that were exactly 0.41mm thick and I reassembled the clutch. The gap turned out to be 0.31mm after re-assembly so the math worked and I won't have a slipping clutch anymore! Having the Volvo kit with a variety of spacers made the gap adjustment fast and easy. I didn't figure out what the bolt in the spacer kit is for. This bolt is shorter than the bolt that was holding the clutch assembly together. I reused the old bolt when reassembling the clutch.
