  • You may also need shoe return spring 5C0609717 x2 which is not included in this kit.

The drum brake system is responsible for taking hydraulic fluid and using its pressure to expand its brake shoes against the brake drums which causes friction and thus stops or slows your vehicle. The drum brake shoes used in the system require multiple pieces of hardware to keep the shoes mounted in place and able to pivot. Whenever brake shoes are replaced it is always recommended to replace all of the components, such as those found in this brake hardware kit.

Didn't match the hardware for my 2011 Jetta 2.0
This hardware kit said it would fit my 2011 Jetta Base 2.0, but it did not. The stems that hold the brake shoes down did not fit through the holes in the backing plate and were shorter than the original and had a much smaller head. The Drum Brake Shoe Return Spring that goes on the bottom also didn't match the original spring. On the fcpeuro site it says you may also need VW Drum Brake Shoe Return Spring Genuine VW 5C0609717. This spring is supposed to be included in the hardware kit but is not. Unfortunately, I didn't discover the deficiencies in the kit until after I had installed some of the other springs which did fit, so the product was no longer returnable.
