Product Information

If your BMW is stalling or won't start due to fuel pressure problems it could be due to a worn out fuel pump. This replacement fuel pump assembly sourced directly from BMW will perform just like the original one installing in your car from the factory.

Note: When installing a new fuel pump we also recommend replacing the fuel pump relay, p/n 61368373700. For the fuel feed line at the top of the fuel tank access lid we recommend using an 11.3mm oetiker crimp clamp, also see p/n 52545K45 for the clamp.

Fuel Pump Module Assembly

A fuel pump module assembly is a complete unit, typically located inside the fuel tank, that delivers pressurized fuel to the engine. Unlike a standalone fuel pump, the module will sometimes include:

  • Electric fuel pump – draws and pressurizes fuel.
  • Fuel filter/strainer – removes debris and contaminants.
  • Fuel pressure regulator – maintains consistent fuel pressure.
  • Fuel level sending unit – communicates fuel level to the gauge.

  • Supplies pressurized fuel to the injectors for combustion.
  • Maintains proper fuel pressure under different driving conditions.
  • Provides accurate fuel level readings to the dashboard gauge.

Made in china. Replaced this chinese pump with the updated Pierburg pump made in France. All has been well over 5k miles.

Good looking kit, no markings on pump, Made in China not Czech Republic
Replacing my OEM pump as maintenance, instead of in a pinch on the side of the road, I opted to go to FCP to get an excellent lifetime warranty. The listing says it's made in the Czech Republic and this pump clearly states on the box it is made in China. Shame on me for not reading that before I got too far in the installation to go back. The pump seemed smaller than the OE style and had no real markings. I have to say that although the kit was nice and I feel like FCP will honor their warranty if this ever were to go out, I feel a little ripped off and a little worried about the reliability of this pump. So much so that I am now storing my old pump in the trunk with a couple of spare tools in case this thing leaves me stranded.

BMW Fuel Pump by VEMO
I bought this fuel pump for a 2000 BMW 540i (M62TU engine). The pump itself is one of the better Non-BMW parts, especially compared to most of the cheap garbage on other sites that rhyme with "rock" and "auto". The OE fuel pump assembly is quite pricey at ($305 USD at the time of writing) and doesn't include any more parts than this one AFAIK. Things to note: The included "VEMO" seal WILL NOT FIT on your fuel tank. It is the wrong style, no matter how much lube you use to try and shove this thing in, it won't work. Order the OE BMW rubber seal by using RealOEM to find the correct seal for your build-date. (P/N: 16141182905 for a 10/99 540i, available on FCPEuro) https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-fuel-pump-o-ring-seal-16111184084 - Around $10 USD I had to re-use my old seal which was still in good condition, however I highly suggest that you replace it. Make sure to empty the tank as much as you can before starting the job. I highly recommend ordering a new locking ring to hold the fuel pump in. It's around $5 USD. Don't bother putting your crusty old one back in. I used this one https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-fuel-sender-lock-ring-16116762417 (P/N: 16116762417) Note: If you are replacing the fuel level sender (on the other side), this locking ring should also fit it. (Level Sender - Drivers Side USA, Fuel Pump - Pass. Side USA) The removal tool is not required, but may be helpful, I used a 3/8 and 1/4 socket extension and a hammer.
