Driver side door lock actuator - Vemo
Ordered both driver and passenger side door lock actuators. The passenger side worked fine, but the driver's side did not. Excellent customer service in returning the part, but I decided to order the BMW branded part as a replacement.

Vemo 51217315019 Review
Looked exactly like the original genuine BMW unit that I pulled out of my driver door (2012 e70 X5M), where the original 3 mount bushings had failed. Getting these things in & out is super fun. The Vemo directions are horribly written. I separated the motor (bowden cable & small electrical connector) which make it much easier to do the required flip and pivot to get the lock assembly in the right orientation. Then while still unbolted, reconnect (be 100% sure that bowden connector is fully seated in both the hook and the clip, or it won't work) and initialize by plugging in power and moving latch to the half-closed position. This takes up any slack in the cable should it exist. There were no threads cut in the lock/latch unit, which seemed strange, but maybe it's by design since the steel is soft and the bolts cut in cleanly. Along with the slightly eccentric bolts this would seem to be self-locking. I used silicone lube on attachment points and this unit is quieter and quicker than the other 3 doors, so I'm very happy. Also really have to give kudos to FCP Euro for having the best in-stock inventory in the business, having a great selection of OEM parts, and fair shipping price.

Door lock Actuator - Soft Close
I removed the driver side door panel and removed the existing door actuator lock. After a full removal I installed the new actuator lock and buttoned up the door panel. I placed the 10A fuse back in spot and shut the door. The new unit worked flawlessly and the fit and finish were excellent. I appreciate my BMW X5 now having a fully functional driver side door.

The part came nicely packaged by FCPEuro. However, after installing the part on my front driver side door, the softclose mechanism was malfunctioned. Had to return back to FCP. FCPEuro's customer service is the best!

Is it recommended that I purchase replacement clips for my 2013 BMW X5 if I am going to be replacing the actuator? I'm sure my mechanic would know this answer so I want to buy before he asks me where they are.......THANK YOU for the continued support and guidance
