Saab Roof Luggage Carrier Side Rail - Genuine Saab 12842162

Product Information

The roof luggage carrier side rail is a structural component mounted along the roof edges of a vehicle, designed to support crossbars and carry cargo accessories. It provides a secure foundation for transporting items such as roof boxes, bicycles, skis, or other gear, increasing the vehicle’s load capacity. Constructed from lightweight yet durable aluminum or steel, with corrosion-resistant finishes, the side rail combines strength with a streamlined appearance that complements vehicle styling.

• Loose or unstable mounting – side rail no longer holds securely due to damaged hardware or worn attachment points.
• Visible dents, bends, or cracks – compromise load capacity and structural integrity.
• Corrosion or surface wear – reduces durability and affects both safety and appearance.

About Genuine Saab

The original parts used by Saab to build your car are available as replacement parts under the “Genuine Saab” brand. Manufactured under the direction of Saab, expect excellent quality and a premium price since these parts are exclusively available through the Saab Dealership network.

You may not realize this, but the parts that make up your Saab are not necessarily manufactured by Saab. No cause for concern, as Saab designs the part, hires a manufacturer, and ensures its quality to you. In fact, many of these manufacturers have been making parts for Saab for decades. In our industry these manufacturers are called OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers), and these are often brands you recognize, including Lemforder, ZF, Sachs, Bosch, Valeo, Zimmermann, Siemens VDO, Corteco, and more. Don’t be surprised to open that Genuine Saab parts box and find an OEM branded part inside, simply with the addition of a Saab logo.

Be sure to keep an eye out for OE tags on our product pages to quickly identify parts coming direct from OE manufacturers. That extra bit of insight could save you some serious money while shopping! Refer to our OE Academy for further information regarding the OE/OEM tags throughout the site.
