A manual transmission shift lever, also known as a gear shift or gear selector, is a control mechanism used to manually change gears on a vehicle with a manual transmission. It is usually located on or near the center console of a vehicle, within easy reach of the driver.

The shift lever is connected to the transmission by a series of linkages and cables, and its primary function is to engage and disengage the various gears of the transmission.
