HVAC Heater Control Valve

The HVAC heater control valve regulates the flow of hot coolant from the engine to the heater core, allowing the system to produce warm air for the cabin. The valve opens and closes based on the driver's temperature settings, controlling how much heat is transferred to the cabin.

HVAC Heater Control Valve Failure Symptoms
  • Inconsistent Cabin Temperature: If the valve is stuck open or closed, you may experience fluctuating temperatures inside the vehicle, with heat not matching the temperature settings
  • No Heat: A malfunctioning heater control valve can prevent hot coolant from entering the heater core, resulting in cold air blowing from the vents, regardless of the temperature setting
  • Coolant Leaks: If the valve is damaged or has a poor seal, it may leak coolant onto the floor of the vehicle or around the engine compartment

Heater control valve
The heater control/bypass valve worked great. If went in place of my old one as preventative maintenance, and it has been holding up well with no issues over the past 5k+ miles. The quality seemed good when it came out of the box, and it was easy to fit. Shipping was also good.

Saab 2.3T Heater Bypass Valve
These plastic coolant valves are notorious for leaking (especially in winter when you use the heater). I've had two Saabs and replaced this valve total of 3x now. Thanks to FCP's lifetime replacement I have not had to buy the part every time. 5-Stars for FCP. 4-stars for saab designed part with poor durability.
