A headrest (also called a head restraint) is a padded support attached to the top of a vehicle seat. It is designed to support the occupant’s head and neck, primarily to reduce the risk of whiplash injuries during rear-end collisions. Headrests can be fixed or adjustable (vertically, and in some modern cars, fore-aft tilt).

• Loose or wobbly headrest – doesn’t stay securely in place or shifts when leaned on.
• Adjustment failure – headrest won’t lock, raise, lower, or tilt properly.
• Damaged padding or cover – torn upholstery, compressed foam, or cracked material reducing comfort.
