NOTE: This is an updated version that will look different than what is coming out. Skandix has developed and tested this solution to work in all fuel injected classic Saab 900's. Because of this, some very minor wire splicing will be required to install. All parts required to connect the new sender to your existing wiring are included, as well as an installation guide. Wire crimping pliers are highly recommended to ensure a tight wire crimp.

To minimize the fluctuations caused by the undamped instrument, we recommend installing the fuel tank sender so that the float arm moves perpendicular to the direction of travel. There is a small cylinder on the fuel tank sender that also calms down the fluctuations when the tank is full, but this only works when the car is filled up for the first time after the replacement.

Fuel Level Sensor

A fuel level sensor is a component located inside the fuel tank that measures the amount of fuel and sends this information to the vehicle’s fuel gauge or electronic control unit. It typically uses a float connected to a variable resistor to detect fuel levels. By providing accurate readings, the sensor helps drivers monitor fuel usage, prevent unexpected empty tanks, and supports fuel management systems.

Fuel Level Sensor Failure Symptoms
  • Inaccurate or fluctuating fuel gauge readings, regardless of actual fuel level.
  • Fuel gauge stuck on full or empty, caused by sensor malfunction.
  • Check Engine Light illumination, often due to a fault detected in the fuel sending circuit.
