The Fender Nut, also known as the string nut, is a small but essential part of a guitar's construction. Located at the top of the guitar's neck, it is a small strip of material (usually plastic, bone, or metal) with six notches that hold the strings in place.

Its primary function is to maintain proper spacing and height of the strings as they travel from the tuning machines to the bridge.
