Product Information

Vacuum pump failure can lead to a hard brake pedal, oil contamination and leaks through the seals, and in severe instances, it can lock up. This lock up can break the camshaft and damage the cylinder head since the camshaft is used to drive the vacuum pump.

There is no specified mileage for vacuum pump replacement and this is one of those components that will work until it doesn't any longer. Because of this we recommend replacing the vacuum pump as a long term maintenance item every 60,000 miles.

A vacuum pump is a component that generates the necessary vacuum pressure for various vehicle systems, such as the brake booster, turbocharger controls, and emissions equipment. It is especially important in modern engines, including turbocharged and diesel engines, where natural engine vacuum may be insufficient. A properly functioning vacuum pump ensures safe braking performance and reliable operation of vacuum-dependent systems.
