The sunroof motor is an electric drive unit that powers the opening, closing, and tilting functions of a vehicle’s sunroof assembly. Controlled by interior switches or the vehicle’s body control module, the motor engages gears and cables to move the sunroof glass smoothly and securely. Built for durability and frequent use, the sunroof motor is typically compact, sealed against moisture, and engineered for quiet, reliable operation.

Sunroof Motor Failure Symptoms
  • Sunroof will not open, close, or tilt – caused by a completely failed motor.
  • Slow, jerky, or incomplete sunroof movement – indicates weakening motor performance.
  • Clicking, grinding, or buzzing noises – caused by worn internal gears or motor strain.
