Product Information

The steering rack uses an inner and outer tie rod that serves as the link between the steering rack and the steering knuckle and what the steering input acts upon to turn the wheels. They are also used to adjust the toe setting for the front wheel alignment. Both tie rods use a ball joint to pivot based on the wheel and suspension movement. Wear in the tie rods occurs through movement and impact within the ball joint socket. This wear can be accelerated if driven on rough roads. Worn and loose tie rod ball joints will cause a loose steering feel and reduced steering feedback and may clunk over bumps. It will also cause uneven tire wear as the wheel alignment moves out of specification. And, if the tie rod boots are torn, it will allow water and dirt to get into the joints contributing to their failure.

I have a 2011 Porsche Cayenne Turbo. There are two tie rod kits on FCP Euro. One is $150 for the kit, One is $120 for the kit. Why are they different? Does one kit have different sized ball joints? Or simply different manufacturers? I have a clunking noise on the passenger side suspension area and the dealer has not been able to diagnose it. I am running down every possible lead here.
