This offering from Odometer Gears is a replacement speedometer drive gear for your classic Porsche. This component of your vehicle's odometer is connected to the transmission via the output shaft. The gear mechanically transmits the speed of the output shaft to an accurate speedometer reading in your gauges. If you change the rear tire size or differential, the speedometer drive gear can be thrown off and display speed inaccurately.

About Odometer Gears

Owned by Jeff Caplan, Odometer Gears started out when the Owner of the company needed to replace the Odometer gear on his 1980 BMW 528I to complete the restoration of the vehicle. However, after searching from repair shop to repair shop, everyone want to sell him the entire cluster repair service or in some cases the entire instrument cluster itself which could cost up to $1600 installed. Once he made his first gear, word got out and he quickly started getting orders from other enthusiasts. Today, Odometer Gears still has the passion and drive to make inexpensive solutions to repair expensive components by developing smaller parts to repair them.

Perfect for my early 944!
Perfect replacement to get my odometer and trip meter functioning correctly on my square-dash Porsche 944! It's a bit tricky to un-crimp the outer band of the speedometer, but can easily be replaced in under an hour, and give you simple satisfaction of a working odometer. Make sure to test with a drill or screwdriver before reinstalling!
