A side marker light is a small, sometimes amber, or clear reflector light mounted on the sides of a vehicle, typically near the front or rear corners. Its primary purpose is to make the vehicle more visible from the side, especially during low-light conditions or at night, improving overall road safety.

Side Marker Light Failure Symptoms
  • Cracked or Damaged Lens: Physical damage to the side marker light's lens can allow moisture or dirt to enter, leading to bulb failure or corrosion in the wiring. If the lens is cracked or broken, it should be replaced to prevent further damage.
  • Corrosion or Water Damage: If the light housing is not properly sealed or has been damaged, water can get inside, causing corrosion to the electrical contacts and wires. This can result in a malfunctioning light, and you might see moisture buildup inside the lens.
