A vapor canister purge solenoid is an electrical component in a vehicle's evaporative emission control (EVAP) system. It controls the flow of fuel vapors from the vapor canister into the engine's intake manifold, allowing these vapors to be burned during combustion. This process helps reduce emissions and maintain engine efficiency.
Vapor Canister Purge Valve Failure Symptoms- Check Engine Light: A malfunctioning purge solenoid can trigger the check engine light, often accompanied by specific trouble codes related to the EVAP system
- Increased Emissions: A malfunctioning purge solenoid can result in higher levels of harmful emissions, potentially causing the vehicle to fail emissions tests
- Evaporative Emission Control System Leaks: If the solenoid is damaged, it may lead to leaks in the EVAP system, which can affect the vehicle's overall emissions performance.
