Porsche recommends changing the manual transmission fluid every 12 years or 120,000 miles. If you drive your 911 on the track in any capacity you'll want to change the fluid more frequently. Our kit includes (3) liters of Liqui Moly Full Synthetic Hypoid Gear Oil along with (2) washers for the fill plug and drain plug.

Manual Transmission Fluid

Manual transmission fluid is a specialized lubricant used in a manual gearbox to facilitate smooth gear shifting by reducing friction between the moving parts; when it fails, common symptoms include difficulty shifting gears, gear slipping, grinding noises, rough shifting, fluid leaks, and a burning smell, often indicating excessive wear or contamination within the transmission.

May not be enough fluid
Fluid worked well enough in the end but if you're using a transfer pump, be prepared for this kit not to contain enough fluid. I was unable to fill my transmission with just 3 bottles and had to make an emergency trip to Napa Auto Parts to purchase an extra bottle.

Slippery lube; New owner; easy task
I just changed the oil in my 6 speed transmission on a 2003 996. Shifting became a little smoother after the changeover, but my reason for change was that this maintenance chore had not been documented, and I didn't want to drive around on 20 year old oil. The LiquiMoly has a tube inside the spout that allows you to squeeze the lube into the transmission straight from the bottle. Unfortunately there isn't enough room under the car to tilt the bottle enough to get all the oil out, so I ended up using a pump. The replacement washers provided in the kit were too small, so I reused the original. washers, not a problem. A 10 mm allen wrench loosened the fill and drain plugs, so this was a fairly easy job (I had the car on a lift). Fun Fact: This gear oil doesn't smell as bad as most gear oils!

Liqui Moly doesn't list this gear oil for that vehicle. You will want to use Red Line 58304.

Yes, this oil is correct for that application although the drain and fill plugs are different. For the 991 you will need POR-9G132180500.
