Engine Water Pump

Your vehicles engine water pump is responsible for keeping coolant flowing through the engine. As water pumps get old the internal bearing can go bad causing noise and a coolant leak. A good indicator that your water pump is failing is if you see coolant leaking through the water pump "weep hole".

Not a quality part
I do not recommend using this pump, the one that I received was sourced from China and was not of high quality. Which is unacceptable considering what it cost. I installed this water pump in December 2023. It's now December 2024, there was a noticeable wobble in the pulley and coolant was gushing everywhere (the bearings have failed). Thankfully my wife was nearby and was able to limp her car home. I replaced this pump with an OE German made unit that was less expensive (including shipping charges) through a different vendor. Backstory: I replaced the original water pump @ 80000 miles because it had a slow weeping leak, the bearing in that pump were fine.

Do i need to apply a sealant to this water pump when installing or is the O-ring sufficient?
