Product Information

The engine oil separator kit includes the breather valves (also known as the air/oil separator) and the breather hoses. Since the components that make up this system are made of plastic they are prone to cracking and failure. Maintaining this system preemptively adds reliability and ensures optimal performance of your engine.

If you notice an air leak, oil leak, fouled spark plugs, or blue smoke coming from the exhaust you'll want to inspect the crankcase breather system and replace as needed.

In this kit we chose to pair Genuine Porsche air/oil separators with OE VNE breather hoses to ensure to deliver a high quality service solution at a competitive price.

About Genuine Porsche

The original parts used by Porsche to build your car are available as replacement parts under the “Genuine Porsche” brand. Manufactured under the direction of Porsche, expect excellent quality and a premium price since these parts are exclusively available through the Porsche Dealership network.

You may not realize this, but the parts that make up your Porsche are not necessarily manufactured by Porsche. No cause for concern, as Porsche designs the part, hires a manufacturer, and ensures its quality to you. In fact, many of these manufacturers have been making parts for Porsche for decades. In our industry these manufacturers are called OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers), and these are often brands you recognize, including Lemforder, ZF, Sachs, Bosch, Valeo, Zimmermann, Siemens VDO, Corteco, and more. Don’t be surprised to open that Genuine Porsche parts box and find an OEM branded part inside, simply with the addition of a Porsche logo.

Be sure to keep an eye out for OE tags on our product pages to quickly identify parts coming direct from OE manufacturers. That extra bit of insight could save you some serious money while shopping! Refer to our OE Academy for further information regarding the OE/OEM tags throughout the site.

997.1S Air Oil Separator Kit
This kit is complete and apparently high quality. The install of the hoses requires much more effort (multi-day project) because of the need to remove the intake manifold, lower the engine, and access many hidden fasteners. Hoses can break easily, so be careful. The AOS itself is at least a frustrating half-day job without replacing the hoses. I am new to this level of 911 engine maintenance, and the access challenges make this job frustrating, complex, and a bit risky. ChatGPT, CoPilot, and AllDataDIY have been helpful. The AI help is dangerously wrong 15% of the time, so double check questionable instructions. I chose to remove the driver’s side intake manifold just to unplug the ‘quick connect’ hose that was not accessible otherwise. If you only replace the main AOS, removing the ac compressor might be easier than the intake manifold. This job would be much easier with the engine out of the car.
