An engine oil filler cap gasket is a small, often rubber or silicone ring that sits between the engine oil filler cap and the valve cover. Its purpose is to form a seal that prevents engine oil from leaking out and contaminants like dirt and debris from entering the engine. Over time, exposure to high temperatures and engine oil can cause the gasket to wear out, become brittle, degrade, leading to leaks or other issues.
