The Engine Cooling Fan is a crucial component of a vehicle’s cooling system. It consists of an electric or mechanical fan, shroud, motor, and related wiring or clutch mechanism. Its main role is to pull or push air through the radiator to regulate coolant temperature, especially when the vehicle is idling or moving at low speeds where natural airflow is limited.
Key functions:
- Prevents engine overheating by maintaining proper coolant temperature.
- Assists air conditioning performance by cooling the condenser.
- Supports overall engine efficiency and longevity.
- Engine overheating – temperature gauge rises, especially in traffic or at idle.
- Air conditioning performance drops – AC blows warmer air when the fan isn’t running.
- Fan not turning on – visible when checking under the hood, even when the engine is hot.
