Product Information
The rear driveshaft connects the transmission to the rear differential. When the driveshaft is in perfect working order it allows for smooth power delivery to the wheels. The most common failure point on the driveshaft is the center bearing and bushing along with the outer joints. In either case, you may experience clunking and vibration on acceleration. This can lead to premature wear on the differential if it's not repaired. Restore the performance and driveability of your Cayenne with our Driveshaft Assembly Kit which includes the rear driveshaft along with the retaining rings.
A driveshaft is a rotating metal shaft that transmits power from the transmission to the rear wheels in a vehicle, and signs of a failing driveshaft include: noticeable vibrations while driving, shuddering when accelerating, loud clicking or clunking noises, squeaking sounds, and difficulty turning, often accompanied by shaking coming from underneath the car; all of which are usually caused by worn-out U-joints or center bearing issues within the driveshaft assembly.
Drive Shaft Assembly Failure Symptoms- Vibrations: This is the most common sign of a failing driveshaft, often felt as a shaking sensation while driving, especially at higher speeds
- Shuddering upon acceleration: When accelerating from a stop, the car may jerk or shudder due to a damaged driveshaft struggling to deliver smooth power
- Noises: Clicking, clunking, squeaking, or rattling sounds coming from the drivetrain area can indicate worn components within the driveshaft
About Genuine Porsche
The original parts used by Porsche to build your car are available as replacement parts under the “Genuine Porsche” brand. Manufactured under the direction of Porsche, expect excellent quality and a premium price since these parts are exclusively available through the Porsche Dealership network.
You may not realize this, but the parts that make up your Porsche are not necessarily manufactured by Porsche. No cause for concern, as Porsche designs the part, hires a manufacturer, and ensures its quality to you. In fact, many of these manufacturers have been making parts for Porsche for decades. In our industry these manufacturers are called OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers), and these are often brands you recognize, including Lemforder, ZF, Sachs, Bosch, Valeo, Zimmermann, Siemens VDO, Corteco, and more. Don’t be surprised to open that Genuine Porsche parts box and find an OEM branded part inside, simply with the addition of a Porsche logo.
Be sure to keep an eye out for OE tags on our product pages to quickly identify parts coming direct from OE manufacturers. That extra bit of insight could save you some serious money while shopping! Refer to our OE Academy for further information regarding the OE/OEM tags throughout the site.
