Product Information

Porsche uses a dual-mass flywheel on most of their modern cars that come equipped with a manual transmission. A dual-mass flywheel uses two halves with dampers in the center to help dampen the clutch engagement for smooth and quiet clutch operation. The flywheel should be inspected for wear and excessive movement any time the clutch is replaced. A dual-mass flywheel cannot be repaired or resurfaced. If there is excessive vibration coming from the flywheel or the surface the clutch mates to is overheated or glazed over the flywheel needs to be replaced. Our Clutch Flywheel Kit includes an OE Luk dual-mass flywheel with integrated pilot bearing along with new mounting bolts.

Clutch Flywheel

A clutch flywheel is a heavy, circular metal disc (usually made of steel or cast iron) mounted on the rear of the engine’s crankshaft in manual transmission vehicles. It plays a key role in both engine operation and clutch engagement.

Clutch Flywheel Failure Symptoms
  • Clutch slippage or poor engagement – worn or damaged flywheel surface reduces grip.
  • Vibrations or shuddering – felt when engaging the clutch due to hot spots, warping, or cracks.
  • Difficulty starting the engine – damaged flywheel teeth prevent the starter motor from engaging properly.
