Product Information

This 4-wheel brake kit includes brake pads, rotors, brake pad wear sensors, and all of the hardware necessary to completely replace your worn-out brakes and restore the braking performance to your Cayenne.

Bedding in: ‘breaking in’ the new brakes.

Brake discs are coated with a weather and temperature resistant coating, which is applied to the entire brake disc including the friction ring. During the first braking actions some grinding noise or dust may occur as the protective coating is removed. The first braking procedures should be carried out gently. Gentle braking will ensure the coating does not become embedded in the friction surface of the brake pads. There should be a delay in braking to prevent heat build-up and avoid thermal shock. Avoid hard, regular braking that will generate excessive heat in the brakes. Finally, use a moderate driving style and avoid any unnecessary, hard or continuous braking for the first 120 miles. If the components are not bedded-in properly, material transfer between the disc and pad may lead to vibrations or noises, which is not ideal for newly fitted pads.

Not a fan of the pads
Once completing the first wheel, I found the other 3 to be much more of a breeze. Everything about the kit seemed good until after the first month of driving with these new brakes. 1) Squeaking - These brakes are just as bad, if not worse than, the worn-out brakes and rotors I replaced. Seriously, every stop sign and red light I pull up to, I'm upset that I spent the time and money to have these brakes, as it is embarrassing having brakes sound like they need to be replaced. How long is this going to go on? Until they actually need to be replaced again? 2) Brake Dust - For whatever reason, I assumed these were a low brake dust set of pads in this set. They are very dusty. Worse than my original pads that came on my used 2008 Cayenne 957. I've seen high praise for cheaper options out there, and just assumed these would have to be a better option based on the price. The stopping power is good, but it seems normal, nothing extra to justify how much dust is created from these pads. The dust is probably contributing to the squeaking. 3) Value - The price was a little steep, which isn't bad if the result was a superior product, but because of points 1 and 2, I feel like I should've tried a budget brake kit for half the price. at least then I'd feel like I got what I paid for. paying over $900 for the kit only to have constantly squeaking stops and constant dirty wheels and tires, I regret this kit.
