Suspension Strut Assembly

If your ride feels a little bouncy or you can feel clunks in the suspension while it's going over bumps it is likely due to worn strut assemblies and shock absorbers. The purpose of the strut assembly is it acts as a central pivot point for the suspension while housing the coil spring. It also dampens the compression and rebound of the coil spring as the suspension moves up and down. When replacing suspension components it is highly recommended to replace them in pairs.

Good shocks, nice ride.
Replaced the struts on my 05 Mini Convertible about a year ago and these were equivalent to the factory struts. Ride quality did improve over my original struts which had about 130,000 miles on them.

(R53 jcw) Feels much more firm than stock. stock shocks were shot so that could be why, although it never bounced. Feels great though 20k miles later

Strut
It fit perfectly. You will need a spring compressor to switch out the upper mount on the bench. Did it myself.

These fit easily and look decent. Good pricing here. Slightly different than stock (the spring perch is plated bright while the original is painted black). It is just the bare strut (as the picture shows) and not the strut assembly

Yes this is a Bilstein B4 Touring strut which can be substituted for the stock strut.

What size is the top nut?

Bilstein does not provide the information and we do not have one on hand to verify. However, it uses an M12 nut same as the factory size so it should be 19mm.
