Steering rack boots may seem like a trivial component but they are extremely important. For one, the steering rack boots keep moisture and dirt from collecting inside the end of the steering rack which can easily damage the steering gear. In addition, the inner tie rod joint is also protected by the boot.

If there are any holes or if the boot is missing entirely we recommend immediate replacement of the boots. We also recommend installing new boots when replacing the tie rod assemblies.

Rack and Pinion Bellows Kit

Rack and pinion bellows are protective rubber or synthetic covers also known as boots that seal and protect the rack and the joints from the rack to the spindles. They encase the steering rack's inner tie rods and prevent contaminants like dirt, debris, and moisture from entering, which can cause wear and tear on the system’s moving parts.

  • Visible Cracks or Tears: Physical inspection may reveal cracks or splits in the bellows, allowing contaminants to enter the steering rack

rack boot
Great quality item. The larger clamp for the back is difficult to use and wont clamp down that easy. Plan to use a different type of clamp.
