Liftgate trim is the interior or exterior finishing panel attached to a vehicle’s rear liftgate (the hinged door at the back of SUVs, hatchbacks, and some crossovers). On the exterior, it often serves as a decorative accent and may house features such as emblems, license plate lights, or a rearview camera. On the interior, the trim provides a finished look, covers structural metal and wiring, and may include handles or access panels for components like the wiper motor. It also helps reduce noise, vibration, and harshness by adding insulation and securing seals.

Liftgate Trim Failure Symptoms
  • Loose or rattling trim, especially when opening or closing the liftgate.
  • Cracks, warping, or broken clips that cause poor fitment and visible gaps.
