This replacement intake boot connects the mass airflow sensor to the turbocharger

Overtime this intake boot goes through various heat cycles and often the rubber becomes spongy and susceptible to tearing. When this happens, a vacuum leak will occur eventually causing a check engine light. It is always recommended to inspect your vehicle's air intake system regularly to ensure your vehicle stays at peak performance.

Engine Air Intake Hose

The engine air intake hose channels clean outside air through the air filter and into the intake manifold. Depending on whether your engine is naturally aspirated or turbocharged, these hoses are typically made from flexible plastic or rubber, which can degrade over time. Maintaining a clean and sealed air intake system is essential for proper combustion of the air/fuel mixture. A damaged or failing air intake hose can lead to reduced fuel efficiency, compromised engine performance, and improper fuel mixture, potentially causing damage to the engine.

Engine Air Intake Hose Failure Symptoms
  • Check engine light: The check engine light may come on and stay on, indicating a lean condition
  • Rough idle: The engine may run rough at idle and under load
  • Intake noises: Additional intake noises may be heard during acceleration as air rushes in between cracks on a broken intake hose

Quality issues
Not sure how this is labeled OEM, there is a lot of injection molding flashing and the rubber is extremely soft compared to original. Fitment is mostly okay but feels low quality. The breather hose is also attached with a hose clamp even though the original seems crimped on.

Mine Pops off constantly
Replaced this when my original cracked all the way through at 140k and again when I replaced the turbo. Pops off worse than ever now. Genuine Mini part on order.

Not sturdy
My original one had cracks in it but it was a lot more sturdy. This one is very soft plastic and is not sturdy where it connects to the turbo. It has a great fitting but I don’t know if it will last with the turbo pressure.
