Hood Lift Support

Hood lift supports, or gas struts, are pressurized cylinders designed to hold up a car's hood. Over time, they can fail due to a pressure drop, often caused by exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, or contaminants. Cold weather, in particular, can reduce the gas pressure inside the struts, making them less effective at supporting the hood during cooler conditions.

Hood Lift Support Failure Symptoms
  • The hood may feel heavier or fail to stay open as high as before due to a gas leak in the lift support
  • Grease or oil leaking from the existing shocks
  • Seeping noise or creaks coming from the shocks when lifting the hood or trunk
  • Hood or trunk fails to stay open when raised

Wrong part
This doesn't fit my 2014 mini cooper s. Too short and the ends should be open opposite of each other.

This is not meant for a 2012 Mini Cooper Countryman. But will fit coopers with the correct year, make, model vehicle.
