Keeps your vehicle's hatch open, always replace in pairs

Trunk lift supports will eventually wear out over time making it difficult to keep the hatch open, including the risk of the trunk suddenly closing on your head or hands. To ensure this does not happen and to keep you safe while accessing your vehicle's hatch, we recommend replacing the pair of supports to regain the stability of your hatch in the upright position

Liftgate Lift Support

Liftgate supports, or gas struts, are pressurized cylinders designed to hold up a liftgate or rear hatch. Over time, they can fail due to a pressure drop, often caused by exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, or contaminants. Cold weather, in particular, can reduce the gas pressure inside the struts, making them less effective at supporting the gate during cooler conditions.

Liftgate Lift Support Failure Symptoms
  • The hatch may feel heavier or fail to stay open as high as before due to a gas leak in the lift support
  • Grease or oil leaking from the existing shocks
  • Seeping noise or creaks coming from the shocks when lifting the hatch

Good until they weren't
Excellent replacement that worked just like the originals (which were, I think, also Stabilus). But they didn't last anywhere close to the originals. It's less than three years later, and I just replaced them again because the hatch was no longer opening fully and I kept banging my head! The new ones, of course, work just like new (at least for now).

Excellent replacement
Purchased two for my Mini hatch. They are very powerful and have no problem holding it up. I would recommend these to anyone needing new struts for their Mini.

R53 Hatch Struts
They were cheap and %100 indistinguishable from the original ones. My hatch stays open now, and with FCP’s lifetime warranty, these were a no brainer.

Same as my original lift struts!
I replaced my original, 15 year old boot struts with these high quality struts. They are identical to those I replaced, minus the BMW name on it and VERY strong!

Old hatch struts, bad, new hatch struts, excellent, install took 2 minutes, literally, very easy, hatch, working as it should now and my face is smiling :-)
