Product Information

Radiator

Your radiator is an integral, and arguably, the most important part of the cooling system. It is designed to expel heat from the coolant via the small fins. Most radiators fail when the end tanks crack causing leaks, but higher mileage radiators which have missing or bent fins often are clogged up with debris which can also cause overheating issues as the radiator cannot expel heat effectively. If your radiator is in rough shape we recommend replacing it. We also highly recommend inspecting/replacing the upper and lower radiator hose at that time.

Radiator Failure Symptoms
  • Overheating
  • Coolant Leak
  • Cracking
  • Bent Fins
  • Clogged Fins caused by debris

About CSF

CSF, The Cooling Experts, have been serving the US aftermarket for almost 4 decades. With over 30 million units sold, CSF is your exclusive source for Radiators, Condensers, Intercoolers, Inverter Coolers, Racing Radiators and Pressure Caps. Whatever the application, trust CSF radiators to keep your vehicle running cool.

When you choose CSF, you are dealing directly with the manufacturer, not a broker or an importer. CSF’s factories are ISO certified, and are OE suppliers to many US, German and Asian manufacturers. When you purchase a CSF product, you can be rest assured that it has been manufactured on the same production lines with the same high quality standards as their OE customers. Every single radiator is subject to rigorous testing procedures such as Hydrostatic Testing, Vacuum decaying and life cycle testing, and is designed to always be a “drop-in fit”.

Some engine compartment bling.
I daily drive in one of the hottest cities in USA, so I want the best cooling system components to keep my car operating properly and I've always liked how all aluminum radiators look in an engine compartment, so I had to install this during a recent major engine repair. This feels like a very high quality part and fit beautifully in my radiator core support. The engine cooling fan and condenser mounted perfectly to it. The only issue I had was the lower outlet to connect to the radiator hose is a slightly larger diameter, so although my lower hose slipped on without any problem, the stock tension-type hose clamp would not open enough to clamp the hose onto my new radiator. I simply used a screw type hose clamp instead and I have no problems whatsoever. This radiator looks cool every time I pop the hood (it's in plain sight on my R53) to check the oil at every gas fill up and my car has brushed off idling in line for Costco gas in 114 degree heat with A/C running like no big deal and it's handling spirited drives around town with frequent trips to redline. Get rid of that plastic radiator and install this one!

CSF Radiator for 2005 Mini Cooper S (R53)
This is my second car with a CSF Radiator (other is a Miata), and I have been pleased with both. The OEM plastic end-tank radiator was turning from black to greenish-brown, so I decided to replace it before it cracked. This is an all-aluminum replacement that should last for the life of the vehicle. Installation was a breeze (as far as working on Minis can be, at least) and there were no serious issues with fitment. The OEM isolators have to be re-used from the old radiator, and the driver's side lower isolator would not sit completely flush due to interference with the radiator's welds. I just trimmed a little bit of material off the isolator (1/4") with a razor knife to get a better fit, but it's not entirely necessary. The CSF radiator core is thicker than OEM (approx. 31mm vs. 25mm), which will push the AC condenser closer to the crash bar - mine just barely touches on the passenger side. Every other aspect was perfect. It should perform a little better with the additional capacity, but the main reason I bought it was for the reliability of an all-aluminum radiator. An additional side-note: my radiator came from CSF without a polished finish (ordered Nov 2021). There was a note with the packaging stating that due to the pandemic, they had to ship some radiators with a satin finish instead of a mirror-polished finish. I actually prefer the satin finish as it matches the finish of my intercooler ducts and engine mounts. You can't see much of the radiator because of the fan shrouds and AC condenser, but the parts that do poke out look nice. Oh yeah - ordering and shipping from FCP was great (as always).
