Replacement window motor sourced directly from Mini, fits Mini's up to 6/2005

On a beautiful day it's always nice to be able to roll down your Mini's windows so you can feel the breeze as you drive along. You push the button to roll down your windows and nothing happens. If this sounds familiar it could be due to a few problems. The window regulator is usually the primary cause of window motor failure, particularly when the regulator is jammed up.

However, the window motor can fail on it's own when everything else with the window lift system is good. If the window motor has failed and the regulator moves freely replacing the window motor may be your best option.

Window Motor

A window motor is an electric motor inside a vehicle’s door that powers the window regulator, allowing you to raise or lower a power window at the push of a switch.

It works by receiving electrical current from the window switch, which then drives gears that move the regulator arms or cables, moving the glass up or down. Window motors are usually paired with the regulator in a single assembly but can also be replaced separately in some vehicles.

Window Motor Failure Symptoms
  • Window Doesn’t Move at All: No sound or movement when pressing the switch, even though the fuse and wiring are good.
  • Slow or Jerky Window Movement: The motor is losing strength, causing the glass to move sluggishly or unevenly.
  • Intermittent Operation: Works sometimes but not always, often due to worn brushes or internal motor issues.
