Replacement clutch kit for Valeo flywheel conversion kit 52151203

This is a replacement clutch kit for the Valeo solid flywheel conversion kit. This kit can only be used with a Valeo solid mass flywheel and cannot be used with a factory style dual mass flywheel.

Kit includes a new disc, pressure plate, and release bearing.

Transmission Clutch Kit

Clutch kits are made up of two main components, the clutch friction disc and the clutch pressure plate. Both of these components transfer torque from the flywheel to the transmission. There are several different types of manual transmission clutches in terms of operation but they all perform the same basic function.

Clutches are a pure wear item. In some cases you may have the option to replace a pressure plate or clutch disc separately but its always best to replace both at the same time along with other component such as the rear main seal, pilot bearing, release bearing, and shifter parts.

Transmission Clutch Kit Failure Symptoms
  • Slipping under acceleration
  • Engine revs freely but the vehicle does not accelerate
  • Difficulty shifting gears
  • Squeaking noises while the clutch pedal is pressed
  • Sticky or spongy clutch pedal feel when the clutch pedal is pressed

lasted well
This is the second valeo clutch the car is had. The date on the old worn out valeo clutch is 2009. Given it's a 2003 car and, at time of writing 2021, the valeo clutch has lasted longer than the original dual mass set up. And, from mileage history of the car, I know it did pretty similar miles year on year. And it's a nice light clutch, and cheaper than factory, and it was easy to get the valeo flywheel machined, it's a clear winner in my book. I could not find replacement flywheel bolts, but found a post somewhere saying the valeo bolts aren't torque to yield. all good.

Does anyone know the bolt pattern on the pressure plate? I'm trying to use a lighter flywheel with this kit. Is it a standard size between all conversions?

Unfortunately the bolt pattern of the pressure plate is not provided. However, pending the flywheel you want to use is the same size (diameter) there should be no difference in the spacing of the pressure plate bolts as they need to be evenly spaced.
